Levesque, Jean Claude

1953-2026

Jean Claude Levesque, 72, passed away suddenly on September 28, 2026 at his home in Edmundston, New Brunswick. He was born on November 11, 1953 in Edmundston.

Jean spent his entire life in the St John Valley. He loved it… it was home. After completing high school and college in Edmundston, Jean began a lifelong career out of his childhood hobby of collecting coins and stamps. His business, Consolidated Numismatics (later renamed CoinQuest), was highly respected throughout the industry, in both Canada and the United States, for its honest grading and high quality service. Jean was a Fellow of the Canadian Numismatics Research Society, a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association, the Atlantic Provinces Numismatic Association, and the American Numismatic Association. He is credited with writing several research articles for the journals of these associations. Jean also won the annual Best National Newsletter award from the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association for 5 years, as editor of “The Atlantic Numismatist” publication.

After retiring several years ago, Jean took up another great passion of his... writing. Over the past decade, he authored and published three murder mystery novels. When not writing, Jean loved working on the landscaping around his home. He also loved traveling and spending time with friends and relatives.

Jean was predeceased by his father Harris Levesque, his mother Blanche Pelletier Levesque, and his sister Yvette Levesque Yearwood. He is survived by his nephew James Yearwood and his wife Susan of Caratunk, Maine; grandniece Emily Yearwood and her husband Zach of New Portland, Maine and their two children Rory and Nolan; grandnephew Paul Yearwood and his wife Mona of Freedom Township, Maine and their two children Evelyn and Yvette; cousins Gert Levesque Michaud and Martine Levesque of Edmundston, as well as several other cousins in the Edmundston area.

Respecting Jean’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service held. Burial will take place at Immaculate-Conception Cemetery in Edmundston, in a private ceremony. Jean’s humor and kindness will be missed by all who knew him. His soul always was and will always be in the Republic of Madawaska.

In lieu of flowers, and in his memory, donations can be made to the Bob Fife Foundation, a registered Canadian charity based in Edmundston.
