Turner, Ronald
1969-2026
Laird Ronald David William Turner, known to those who loved him as Ron, was a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Ron spent most of his life in Ottawa before making his home in Edmundston, New Brunswick, for his final years.
Following a prolonged battle with cancer, Ron leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, friendship, and love.
Ron was known for his wonderful sense of humour, his love of science fiction and all things zombie-related, and his remarkable ability to carry on entire conversations using nothing but movie quotes. He also had a particular fondness for small, adorable aliens and other lovable creatures, as evidenced by his collection of Grogu and Stitch memorabilia. His interests were as varied as his imagination, and he never lost his appreciation for the things that made him smile.
Having been gifted several tiny plots of Scottish land, Ron proudly embraced the honorary title of “Laird,” a distinction that brought him considerable delight and one he was always happy to share.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tanya; his sister, Alena; his brothers-in-law, Jean-Michel and Sean; his stepfather, Paul; his niece, Sydney; and his nephews, Sam and Philip.
Ron will be remembered with love and affection by his family and the many friends whose lives he touched. He shared particularly close friendships with Rodi, Fern, Wicks, Phrynnie, Wayne, and Odin, each of whom held a special place in his life.
In his later years, Ron began exploring a new creative passion: making music. Under the name Blacktide Skald, he created and shared his work on YouTube, leaving behind a musical legacy that allows others to continue enjoying his creativity and imagination.
A celebration of Ron’s life is being planned for Ottawa, Ontario, tentatively in December. Further details will be shared once arrangements have been finalized.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and never forgotten.
