Ouellet, Robert Gerard
1948-2021
Robert (Bob) Ouellet passed comfortably
at Toronto General Hospital on July 7, 2021,
following a lengthy illness in the compassionate care
of Mt. Sinai and Bridgepoint Hospitals.
He was born on December 8, 1948, in Edmundston, NB,
the only child of Gerard and Joan (nee Roy) Ouellet.
Mr. Ouellet is survived by his cousins : Ron Roy of Bangor, ME, Mike Roy of Portland, ME, Lormay Rudolph of Blue Hill, ME, Anne Marrie Watson of Portland, ME, Regan Roy of Frenchville, ME, Ruth Roy of Portland, ME, Mark Roy of Falmourth, ME, Jean-Paul Ouellet of Edmundston, Jocelyne Ouellet of Edmundston, Jimmy Clair of Edmundston and Anne Arsenault of Rockland, Ont.
Mr. Ouellet was fluently bilingual, having moved to Toronto at age eleven, but remained proud of his family's 400 year history in Quebec and New Brunswick. He graduated from St. Michael's College School in 1965, St. Michael's College at the University of Toronto in 1968 earning a B.A., then earned a B.ED. at the U. of T. in 1971. He then went on to complete his professional education program at the College of Education in 1972. His enthusiasm for languages served him well during his 30 year career teaching French and history. The majority of his time in education was spent at Don Valley Jr. High and Newtonbrook S.S., schools within the NY Board and the TDSB.
He loved conversation, sports wagering, the news, and travel particularly to France, Latin America and Las Vegas. His friends will miss his dry wit, generosity and engaging spirit.
A memorial service in memory of Mr. Robert Ouellet will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday August 12, 2021 at the J.B. Côté & Fils Ltée funeral home, with interment at the Immaculate Conception cemetery in Edmundston. The family will receive expressions of sympathy starting at 10 a.m. Thursday at the J.B. Côté & Fils Ltée funeral home.
Visiting hours will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., which is the time of the memorial service.
